Here I go again where angels [or smarter mystery writers] fear to tread. I accepted the presidency of the Florida Chapter of Mystery Writers of America and, with that position, I'm also back on the MWA National Board of Directors.
It's all very exciting and very unexpected, but I'm delighted to be taking an active role in my local chapter.
Many of the best murderous minds in the country live in Florida and I'm happy to help those writers spread crime waves across the state.
Most of the FMWA Chapter meetings are held in the Fort Lauderdale area. However, the chapter's board of directors will be hosting a June cocktail party/meeting -- the best kind of meeting -- in Sarasota, my new hometown. Keep posted for where and when.
And I'm pleased to be teaching again at the Gee Wiz Museum in the Sarasota Performing Arts Center on Tamiami Trail. The Creative Writing Workshops start on March 6, 2008, from 11:45 to 1:45 and will run for six weeks.
I wish you all a happy spring. Sit in the sunshine, root at a little league game, read a mystery on the beach, or take a walk with someone you love.
And love to all of you,
Noreen AKA Nora
